My Acorn Man

On the day I came back to work after our loss, I wasn't feeling great. I didn't want to go. I knew God would give me the strength I needed, but I wasn't expecting the sweet encouragement He'd provide in one of my students.

When "J" came off of the bus, he ran over to me and said how worried he had been while I was gone and how much he missed me.

All day he was watching me and taking care of me in whatever ways a 9 year old can. At one point, another student started talking about babies and "J" quickly suggested that they not talk about that right now, since "Kerrie might feel sad."

At the end of the day, "J" presented me with a little gift that he made to cheer me up. And it certainly did its job.

Meet my little Acorn Man.

How could I not smile?

  1. What a thoughtful boy! I'm glad your students are looking out for you, Kerrie. I bet they're glad to have you back.
