"Talkativeness is the throne of vainglory, on which it loves to show itself and make a display. Talkativeness is a sign of ignorance, a door to slander, a guide to jesting, a servant of falsehood, the ruin of godly conviction, a creator and summoner of hopelessness, a precursor of sleep. the dissipation of recollection, the abolition of watchfulness, the cooling of zeal, the darkening of prayer."
~St. John Climacus
In our small group from church, we've been studying the book of James.
be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger.
Even after we finally finished dissecting the first chapter, these life-giving words kept pulsing through my head.
be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger.
This has been my mantra meditation over the past couple of weeks (can Jesus followers have mantras?).
be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger.
and guess what? These living words have changed me.
How often I forget the power of the Word...
So very glad you stopped by today...I now have found your lovely site!
ReplyDeleteYour art work is beautiful and I love how your children are a part of art with you. What a blessing.
I love old houses, have always wanted one...I'm in a 40 year old home, that's about the oldest lovely husband wanted.
My son and his family live in Nashua NH....we are in Texas, so when I see New England I get excited.
So good to meet you.
Thanks Rayanne! Nashua is about 40 minutes away, so very close! We love New England. Never been to Texas, but would love to visit it sometime. :)
