Nursery Project - Fabric Hoop Art

Ever since seeing this post on Purl Bee, I've wanted to use this idea somewhere in my home. I've been thinking and dreaming about the nursery in earnest lately and have settled on a soft green/blue/yellow color palette...appropriate for either a little James boy or little James girl. I love mismatched fabrics and this seemed like the perfect project to bring color and warm textiles into the room.

This is so easy and cheap to do.  In fact, I may change some of the fabrics in the next couple of months, if I find something that I like better. The embroidery hoops were about a $1 and I found all of the fabric in my scrap stash I acquired from Grandma's house. $7 art? Love it!

Basically all I did was secure the fabric in the embroidery hoop and pull it as taut as I could.  Then, I trimmed the edges, just leaving about a 1/4 of an inch.  I used wood glue (the only tough stuff I had around) and glued the edges down in the back. That's it!
(and check out the changing table that came with our craigslist crib!)

  2. What a great idea! Even the most craft-challenged person (that would be me) could make these!
