Unexpected glory

I was so excited about Sea Kettle gardens this year.  I was 7 months pregnant and nesting inside and out. My sister-in-law and gardener extraordinaire, Rachel, had some new ideas and gifted me with some appropriately shady plants (I learned my lesson last year, wishing that somehow the sun would break through the thick shade of the maple tree and make my sun loving peonies and climbing hydrangeas thrive. Not so much). So, we prepped and planted with high hopes. 


Then I got more pregnant, more uncomfortable, more hot and much less interested in going outside to tend to my little garden.  Pregnancy sciatica kicked in and I could barely walk for the last month leading up to Levi's birth.  So, needless to say, the plants didn't get watered or weeded or tended to.


So, I was pleasantly surprised when the only plant that I didn't plant became the unexpected "glory" of our garden this year. I still have no idea how it got there and how it decided to show up in the only place in the garden that has a trellis for it to climb and adequate sunlight for it to soak!

I'm quite thankful for my neglected-garden miracle.
