The Good Samaritan

Luke 10:30-37

The Parable of the Good Samaritan
 30... Jesus said: "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he fell into the hands of robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. 31A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. 32So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. 34He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, took him to an inn and took care of him. 35The next day he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper. 'Look after him,' he said, 'and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.'
 36"Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?"
 37The expert in the law replied, "The one who had mercy on him."
      Jesus told him, "Go and do likewise."

Under His Wings you Will Find Refuge

Yesterday was the last day of my Dad's cancer treatment for cancer in his tonsils and lymph nodes.

When he was first diagnosed, many friends and family members sent him words and verses of encouragement.  This is part of a note that he received from a friend at church:

... Some years ago when I drove onto campus in a misty rain one morning, a mother goose sat by the road with one wing outstretched, and her goslings snuggled under her wing. I stopped my car, and tears ran down my face as I sang that wonderful old hymn "Under His Wings." Verse 4 says: "He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart."
You are under His wings, Jay. Snuggle down and let the rain fall. You are safe, loved and cared for!

Love and best blessings -Pat

Psalm 91

 4 He will cover you with his feathers,
       and under his wings you will find refuge;
       his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

 11 For he will command his angels concerning you
       to guard you in all your ways;

 12 they will lift you up in their hands,
      so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

 14 "Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him;
       I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.

 15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him;
       I will be with him in trouble,
       I will deliver him and honor him.

 16 With long life will I satisfy him
       and show him my salvation."

Dad asked me to create a piece of artwork based on these verses and words of encouragement.  I finally finished it, just in time for a end-of-treatment celebration present. :)

We are all thanking the Lord for sustaining him during these past weeks and covering him with His "feathers".

We are still praying that his test results come back cancer free - join us?

Capturing Joyful Anticipation

This past weekend I did my first maternity photo shoot for some friends from church. We had a wonderful time and it was the perfect, gorgeous spring day for outside shots at my favorite New England garden estate.  We ended up with about 160 final shots, but here are some highlights.

Such a beautiful family... And we can't wait to meet you, Baby Range!  You are already incredibly loved.

Co-Workers, Crochet and Cookies

In the rhythm of the needles,
there is music for the soul."

--- from an old sampler

Last week, during our April vacation, some of my lady co-workers and I met together for a night of crochet and cookies (among many other wonderful treats). A lovely time was had by all, and now there are a few more "crochet-ers" in the world... there is something so precious about the togetherness of talking, laughing, sitting in a circle working with your hands.
